| With summer approaching, LSU Theatre has some "Magic to Do" in the medieval world of "Pippin," this year's annual summer musical being performed in the Reilly Theatre June 20-30. "Pippin" will run June 20-22 at 7:30 p.m., June 25-29 at 7:30 p.m. and June 30 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for students and children, $15 for LSU faculty/staff and senior citizens and $20 for the general public. Audience members are invited to attend a catered reception with the cast and crew following the opening night performance on June 20. Directed by LSU Ph.D. candidate Gino Chelakis, "Pippin" uses music and dance to tell the story of a young prince trying to find himself as he faces the trials of war, love and politics. "'Pippin'" proves that ultimately, the most fulfilling thing in life is simply love," Chelakis said. With a diverse cast of Baton Rouge's young and old, "Pippin" draws on the talents of the entire LSU College of Music and Dramatic Arts, featuring acting, singing, dancing and instrumental performances. Other cast members such as Leonard Augustus Jr., Andre Chapoy and Elizabeth Mathews are stars in their own right in the Baton Rouge community. Molly Buchmann, resident choreographer for LSU Theatre and Swine Palace Productions and co-artistic director of Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre, will be playing the role of Berthe as well as choreographing. It has been 16 years since Buchmann last graced the stage, appearing on stage with Augustus in Baton Rouge Little Theatre's presentation of "A Chorus Line" in 1986. Other cast members include: Craig Strasen, Luke Siddall, Evan Roider, Megan McFarland, Ron Cooper Jr., Joey Roberts, Adam Miller, Alex Beck, Ontario Alexander, John Payne, Stephen Weeks, Mat J. Grau III, Casey Leigh Thompson, Arica Evans, Courtney Clark, Jillian Vedros, Carrie Jones, Lindsey Piattoly, Kristi Bulot, Mary Ain Sykes, Amber Nelson, Renee Olcsvary, Katie Crawford, April McKeel, Emily Nordess, Abbie Romero, Jason Brown, Daniel Dominique and Wendy Morrill.
